Carlos Rivera

I am a gastroenterologist based in Mexico City with twelve years of clinical experience dedicated to the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. My journey in medicine began at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where I developed a deep fascination with the gastrointestinal system and the complex immunological mechanisms that drive chronic intestinal inflammation. After completing my fellowship at the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán, I committed myself to helping patients navigate the often overwhelming landscape of IBD management. My clinical approach integrates the latest biologic therapies with advanced endoscopic techniques and individualized nutritional interventions. I believe that treating IBD effectively requires more than just prescribing medication—it demands a comprehensive understanding of each patient's unique disease phenotype, lifestyle, and nutritional status. I have extensive experience with anti-TNF agents, vedolizumab, ustekinumab, and newer small-molecule therapies, and I work closely with my patients to find the regimen that offers the best balance of efficacy and quality of life. Over the years, I have had the privilege of managing hundreds of complex IBD cases, many of which were referred after failing conventional treatments. I am passionate about patient education and empowerment, ensuring that every individual I work with understands their condition and feels confident in their treatment plan. My goal on this platform is to provide evidence-based guidance to those living with IBD who seek clarity, hope, and a path toward sustained remission.
